I already know you from before.

Não é a primeira vez que chegamos até aqui.

Há uma familiaridade que não se explica pela memória. Não pelo que guardaste, mas pelo que reconheces antes de perceber que estás a reconhecer.

Um gesto. Uma frase dita de certa forma. Um silêncio que cabe exatamente onde devia.

Não é déjà-vu. É outra coisa. É a sensação de que já houve um antes, mesmo sem saberes onde ou quando. Que isto não começou aqui.

Que o encontro já aconteceu noutra forma, noutro tempo, com palavras diferentes que disseram o mesmo.

Não é o primeiro encontro. É só o primeiro de que tens memória.

It is not the first time we have arrived here.

There is a familiarity that cannot be explained by memory. Not by what you kept, but by what you recognize before you realize you are recognizing it.

A gesture. A phrase said in a certain way. A silence that fits exactly where it should.

It is not déjà-vu. It is something else. It is the feeling that there was already a before, even without knowing where or when. That this did not begin here.

That the encounter already happened in another form, in another time, with different words that said the same thing.

It is not the first encounter. It is only the first one you remember.

Este livro ainda não tem forma definitiva.

Existe como intuição, como algo que insiste em regressar mesmo quando não está a ser procurado. Sobre encontros que parecem ser continuações. Sobre reconhecimentos que não precisam de explicação.

Talvez só se escreva quando ficar claro que tem de ser escrito.

This book does not yet have a definitive form.

It exists as an intuition, as something that insists on returning even when it is not being sought. About encounters that feel like continuations. About recognitions that need no explanation.

Perhaps it will only be written when it becomes clear that it must be.
